Mahta and Shahab were married in a Persian ceremony at The Grand Hotel in Stockholm. And what a wedding! Every detail of their day had been planned to perfection with fabulous flowers and decor, wonderful food and an incredible party atmosphere. The Grand Hotel Stockholm with its elegant interiors and dramatic lighting was the perfect backdrop! And we were there as their Bröllopsfotograf Stockholm – that’s Swedish for wedding photographer – to capture all those details and special moments!
This was our fourth trip to Stockholm to film and photograph a Persian wedding. We have been quite a hit with the Persian community in Sweden and we always appreciate their kindness and hospitality.
One of the lovely things about destination weddings is that we often get to spend a bit more time with the couple and capture some more informal shots. We had a pre-wedding shoot in and around the centre of Stockholm with Mahta and Shahab and the images really are stunning! I adore their chic, chilled-out style!
On the day of their wedding (Bröllop in Swedish ; )) Mahta and David chose to honour the Swedish tradition of bride and groom meeting privately before the ceremony. It was a very emotional moment when they saw each other for the first time in all their finery. Mahta’s Maggie Sottero gown, with its pearl-encrusted bodice and flattering sweetheart neckline was simply enchanting and Shahab looked extremely suave in his slimline navy suit.
Their Persian wedding ceremony was rich in symbolism, with the bridesmaids rubbing together two pieces of sugar over the heads of the newlyweds to sweeten the marriage. Later the bridesmaids had another role to play. Tradition has it that they steal the knife for cutting the wedding cake and hold it to ransom until the groom pays enough to get it back!
The party was absolutely dazzling with bride and groom in high spirits and their guests ready to dance the night away. We were blown away by this trip to Stockholm and we hope to see Mahta and Shahab again on subsequent trips. We can’t wait to be Bröllopsfotograf Stockholm again! Huge congratulations guys! Or should we say gratulationer, or مبارك باشد!
