Chundeep & Ritesh: Indian Wedding Photographer and Videographer

Chundeep and Ritesh had a fantastic, fun-packed day, celebrating their wedding at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa and we were there as their Indian wedding photographer and videographer. The couple were both keen to honour their religious heritage. Chun is Sikh and Ritz Hindu, so they were married in a Sikh ceremony in Dubai and had Hindu and civil ceremonies at The Mere. The civil ceremony was one of the most special moments for them as they had written their own personalised vows with deep emotional resonance for them both.

Their vision for the day was strongly influenced by Chundeep’s late mother. Chun grew up steeped in her mother’s Punjabi culture and great love of Bollywood films, so she was clear that she wanted to do her wedding shopping in India. Contending with the notorious Delhi traffic in 48 degree heat was tough, but Chun found her beautiful wedding jewellery in the very same store her mother used to frequent, so it was worth the journey. She also found her perfect wedding outfit in the nick of time, just hours before the flight home. I absolutely adore her hot pink gown with gold embroidery and the bold colour was perfectly complemented by Ritz’s ivory suit with its pink and gold detailing. Their couple shots are just dreamy. They look so in love, which is just gorgeous to see and I love that joy and humour coming through in the pictures. Stunning, guys!

The bridesmaids’ ivory skirts and baby pink blouses were so elegant and they too had plenty of fun posing for the photo shoot, which was great! During the wedding breakfast, the couple played old Bollywood songs from their parents’ generation. The evening party saw a change of outfit and we were able to capture some more stunning shots. Their guests were really up for a party and there was plenty of dancing and good times. This was an awesome wedding brimming with love, fun and feelgood vibes. Congratulations guys, we are truly honoured to be chosen as your Indian wedding photographer and videographer!

Claire & Anthony: Wedding Photographer Manchester, City Centre

Claire and Anthony chose Viva la Wedding as their wedding photographer Manchester because we had filmed and photographed the wedding of Claire’s cousin, Rachel and they loved the results! We were really happy to be working with another member of the family! It was a wedding to remember, with plenty of emotion, humour and dance floor manoeuvres! Claire and Anthony tell us more:

What was it like planning your wedding?

I enjoyed planning our wedding and I really miss it now it has gone! We were very lucky having our talented family and friends helping us with preparations, favours, invitations, flowers and hen and stag parties. It was quite easy and stress free. We planned the wedding in just over a year. We only had one busy week, and that was the week before, which is what all couples experience I expect.

What was the most memorable/special part of the day for you?

Claire – The speeches and the first dance. Anthony, my dad, and Lee were fantastic speakers. The speeches were thoughtful, loving and funny. I really enjoyed listening to them on the day, and watching them back on the video.

Anthony – Waiting for Claire to arrive at the church. Waiting at the front of the church with my brother, those 5 minutes felt so long. I just wanted to see her arrive.

Were you nervous?

No! The morning of the wedding was so calm. We have wanted to get married for so long and we were engaged for four years. In that time we decided to buy a house and then save for the wedding. So we were desperate to officially become man and wife.

Mahta and Shahab: Bröllopsfotograf Stockholm Grand Hotel

Mahta and Shahab were married in a Persian ceremony at The Grand Hotel in Stockholm. And what a wedding! Every detail of their day had been planned to perfection with fabulous flowers and decor, wonderful food and an incredible party atmosphere. The Grand Hotel Stockholm with its elegant interiors and dramatic lighting was the perfect backdrop! And we were there as their Bröllopsfotograf Stockholm – that’s Swedish for wedding photographer – to capture all those details and special moments!

Mahta & Shahab – The Wedding Highlights from Viva La Wedding on Vimeo.

This was our fourth trip to Stockholm to film and photograph a Persian wedding. We have been quite a hit with the Persian community in Sweden and we always appreciate their kindness and hospitality.
One of the lovely things about destination weddings is that we often get to spend a bit more time with the couple and capture some more informal shots. We had a pre-wedding shoot in and around the centre of Stockholm with Mahta and Shahab and the images really are stunning! I adore their chic, chilled-out style!

On the day of their wedding (Bröllop in Swedish ; )) Mahta and David chose to honour the Swedish tradition of bride and groom meeting privately before the ceremony. It was a very emotional moment when they saw each other for the first time in all their finery. Mahta’s Maggie Sottero gown, with its pearl-encrusted bodice and flattering sweetheart neckline was simply enchanting and Shahab looked extremely suave in his slimline navy suit.

Kokil and Neil: Cheshire Wedding Photographer, Combermere Abbey

This was technically the second wedding for Kokil and Neil. A few months before their stunning wedding at the luxurious Combermere abbey in Cheshire, they held a traditional ceremony in India. Two very different worlds with two people in common.

We always love it when we get to shoot in a new venue and when we took a quick look at Combermere abbey we knew it would have incredible results. The ceremony was held in a big glass conservatory set in the middle of a labyrinth of fruit bushes. Despite the wedding being held in October we were all blessed with a bright sunny day which meant everyone could see the full beauty of the setting.

Kokil and Neil’s special day was packed full of surprises! The best man was able to find video footage of Neil’s self proclaimed wonder goal scored on the Stockport County football pitch.  However the biggest surprise of the day was for Neil when Kokil took a scene from his favourite film, ‘Meet Joe Black’ and recreated it. In this scene there is an impressive firework display whilst Louis Armstrong’s ‘Wonderful World’ is playing in the background. Kokil had the staff tell everyone that there had been a small kitchen fire and they were to evacuate to the front lawn. As the last guest had left the room, the music kicked in and the first fireworks were lit in what was to be an immense display. I don’t think anyone had a dry eye by the end of the display!

We hope you enjoy the our job as Cheshire wedding photographer and the videography! Weddings like this one make us realize how lucky we are we to have the opportunity to be a part of so many big days!

Real Princesses: A styled wedding shoot

Wedding Styled shoot: Real Princesses

Have you ever searched for wedding dresses on Google images? If you do, you will find scores of gorgeous gowns and all of them, pretty much every single one, will be modelled by a white woman.

I’ve always found this a bit strange. At Viva la Wedding our portfolio is very eclectic, but when we look around us in the wedding industry it’s difficult to find much representation of people of colour.

This is something that bothered Nova Reid, when as a black bride-to-be she began planning her own wedding.

“It reminded me of some of the insecurities and battles with race and identity I encountered as a child and teenager. I felt like I could never be a princess as I could not identify with the images constantly proffered at me via media.”

Nova was so incensed by the lack of representation that she started her own bridal blog, Nu Bride to add a splash of diversity to the wedding industry. Several years on she has received two prestigious awards and her readership is growing daily.

Nova’s work has inspired me many times, but when she wrote about feeling excluded from the world of princesses it gave me an idea. Princesses are the ultimate beauty icon, as any three year-old girl can tell you, yet they are so often depicted as being white. I thought it would be empowering to subvert that and show beautiful princesses of different ethnicities. My plan was to create a series of bridal shoots with women of colour styled as fairytale princesses, photographing them on location in stunning wedding venues and capturing iconic moments from each fairytale.

When I suggested this to Nova, she was instantly hooked! “You do realise this is an epic project?” she said. “Have you ever organised a styled shoot before?”

I had not, but I wasn’t going to let a small thing like that hold me back!

Watch our making-off film to find out more about Real Princesses!

From the start I was determined to feature non-models, and the concept of “Real Princesses” was born. I wanted to prove a point. If I could call upon four friends and acquaintances of different looks and ethnicities and ask them to participate in a shoot, then the bridal industry could try a bit harder to include women of colour.

Selina & Amit – Wedding Photographer, Stapleford Park

Midlands Wedding photographer

Ladies and Gentleman, meet Mr and Mrs Juneja!

When you’re a midlands wedding photographer, working at Stapleford Park is an absolute pleasure! I was lucky enough to be at this wedding and it will be incredibly hard for you to find a couple who smile more than these two. The minute we arrived we were greeted by Amit and his big grin as he attempted to impress Guille with his Spanish lingo. We were also in awe of the grandeur of their chosen venue. Stapleford Park is one of the top 50 wedding venues in the UK so we already knew this Midlands wedding photography and videography would look stunning. Selina and Amit held their ceremony in the orangery of the country house which was perfect for this bright summer day in June! They truly lucked out when it came to the weather as they enjoyed first drinks on the lawn with their friends and family.
