At Viva la Wedding Manchester, we are always looking to improve, grow and incorporate new techniques, methods and products. Photography is a new service that we’ve been developing and nurturing for a long time. We’ve worked alongside many amazing photographers in recent years, professionals who have inspired us with different approaches and styles of shooting. Because videography has so much in common with photography (video is just images in motion), our skills are easily transferable. From lighting and framing shots to setting customers at their ease, our experience behind the video lens has given us the confidence and experience to take on still photography, so it seemed a natural progression for us to expand our repertoire and offer a complete photography and videography package.

Photography has long been a passion of mine, I grew up shooting 35mm on analogue cameras and made the jump to digital quite a few years ago. I am always working to develop my technique and I have gained a great deal of experience in taking photographs both personally and professionally. Just to make sure that I wasn’t missing out on any tricks of the trade, I recently took a course in wedding photography at the fantastic Aspire Photography Academy in the Lakes. It was a great day out in the country and a fantastic experience! Massive thanks to Phil Barber and the rest of the team! You can see the results of the day below.

At the moment, we are just offering the service to certain customers who have approached us directly, but we plan to launch the full wedding photography service for the 2013 wedding season. We’ve already done a few pre-wedding shoots and weddings this year so keep an eye on this space!

Pria & Samir: Hindu Wedding Video

Pria and Samir’s wedding was a truly splendid occasion, held in two stunning venues; Harewood House and The Royal Armouries in Leeds. The couple chose to have a civil ceremony followed by a traditional Hindu ceremony, and we relished the chance to showcase the contrast between their two different approaches; with gorgeous contemporary costumes, including Pria’s fabulous red bridal gown, followed by the rich symbolism and startling colours of the Hindu ceremony. They say never work with animals, but we would not have missed the chance to film Samir looking majestic in full traditional costume on his white charger, and we have to say, the horse was extremely well-behaved!

We had spent the previous day filming pre-wedding ceremonies at Pria’s family home. The Mistry family were incredibly kind to us and we felt very much at ease. By the wedding day, Pria was completely at home in front of the camera for the video and we were able to capture plenty of “special shots”, our term for the more posed shots which we film when we take the bride and groom to one side, usually just after the wedding ceremony. The two families had choreographed some amazing dance routines (which look brilliant in the video), which they performed during the reception, to the delight of the happy couple. It was a very eventful day and one which was complete with pomp, ceremony, high spirits and sincere emotion. We loved being a part of this Hindu couple’s special day and seeing the coming together of two such warm, welcoming families and the Mehtas and the Mistrys.

Sarah & Rik: Berkshire Wedding video, Wasing Park

Sarah and Rik were married at Wasing Park in Berkshire this June. The weather was kind to this warm, friendly couple and we were able to capture some beautiful outdoor shots. There was a great atmosphere throughout the day with some heartfelt speeches and plenty of good cheer. It seemed everyone was in the mood for dancing and the wedding party grooved al fresco to a live band far into the night. We were blessed by a fantastic sunset that made for one of the most special first dances that we can remember. I still remember the joy of seeing the light rays filtering through the lens and creating wonderful effects on the footage.

A beautiful occasion with many special touches, we are sure you’ll enjoy this highlights video. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Gunderson!

Charmaine & Peter: Scotland Wedding video, Balbirnie House

Charmaine and Peter were married in a gorgeous candlelit ceremony in the chapel of Balgonie Castle in Fife. Cue Kilts galore, a fabulously dramatic dress and one of the most romantic settings we’ve ever filmed in! The reception at Balgonie House was equally impressive with riotous celidh dancing and two bands playing as well as a piper. Charmaine and Peter had planned their day meticulously and everything came together beautifully. There was such a wonderful atmosphere and you could feel that their family, friends and everyone involved were really rooting for this couple. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Day!

Heather & Brian: Tameside Wedding video

Heather and Brian’s wedding was a very moving day, from the special messages they sent each other in the morning to the vows where you can hear the emotion in Heather’s voice. I couldn’t help but shed a tear when I saw their video for the first time! Heather got ready at home surrounded by friends and family and this allowed us to inject a lot of her warmth and personality into the film and gave a real sense of the excitement and anticipation as she prepared for her big day. The couple were married in a touching ceremony at St Paul’s Church in Stalybridge (Cheshire) and moved on to the very romantic Rivington Hall Barn in Lancashire for their reception. This beautiful rural setting meant we could capture some gorgeous outdoor shots and the barn itself was a splendid backdrop to a funfilled wedding party. It seemed everyone, from the youngest flower girls to the very glamorous older generation was ready to dance and express their joy at seeing this loving couple tie the knot. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Cunningham!

New Team Member!

At Viva la wedding, we are very excited to be taking on a new assistant editor to work with us on a freelance basis. We are holding interviews today and I have to say, the calibre of the candidates is impressive. I’m looking forward to introducing our new team member and I’m thrilled at the opportunity for our little company to grow. This is a small step, but one that is going to make a big difference, helping us to improve the services we offer even further.

Viva la Cupcake!

I spent ages icing these slightly wonky Viva cupcakes! My hands are shaking now just thinking about it! We had a great day and we also met some amazing wedding suppliers, some of whom will be featuring on our recommendations page.

On the day we held a draw where couples could win a bottle of prosecco. These were won by: Kate Pattison, VickieNadin & Joseph Burgess, Marie Humphry & Carlton Burgess, Sharon Lau & Simon Chan and Sarah Hartley & Graham Jackson. We have emailed the winners so they can claim their prizes.

Wedding Fayre 9th October Adlington Hall, Cheshire

Viva la Wedding is excited to announce that we’ll be participating in our first ever wedding fayre! It’s a little known fact that Jo was once a bridal model (by virtue of working as a sales assistant in a bridal boutique many moons ago!) so she has seen her fair share of wedding fayres, but for Guille it’ll be a first! The venue is Adlington Hall, a beautiful location in Cheshire, which you’ll be hearing more about as we have become their recommended videographer.

We’re really looking forward to the event and are already planning some goodies for our stand with some lovely home-made cakes and biscuits and a bottle of bubbly to give away! Come and meet us and find out about how we work!

Anna & Lee: Yorkshire Wedding video, East Riddlesden

We first met Anna and Lee back in 2010 when they made the booking with Viva la wedding. We visited them in their house in West Yorkshire and we knew from then that their wedding was going to be a fantastic event. They struck us as a very easy-going and friendly couple and that’s what we found at their wedding; a fantastic atmosphere with very welcoming people, and even a friendly dog!. There were quite a few emotional speeches from friends and familiy and it was clear that everyone was thrilled to see these two tie the knot.
The wedding took place at the fantastic East Riddlesden Hall in Yorkshire.

Anna and Lee were very keen on getting a great film so they were always very accommodating with our team of cameramen. We try to spend as much time as possible with the bride and groom doing what we call ‘the special sequence’ and they really rose to the occasion. A big congratulations!
