Claire and Anthony chose Viva la Wedding as their wedding photographer Manchester because we had filmed and photographed the wedding of Claire’s cousin, Rachel and they loved the results! We were really happy to be working with another member of the family! It was a wedding to remember, with plenty of emotion, humour and dance floor manoeuvres! Claire and Anthony tell us more:
What was it like planning your wedding?
I enjoyed planning our wedding and I really miss it now it has gone! We were very lucky having our talented family and friends helping us with preparations, favours, invitations, flowers and hen and stag parties. It was quite easy and stress free. We planned the wedding in just over a year. We only had one busy week, and that was the week before, which is what all couples experience I expect.
What was the most memorable/special part of the day for you?
Claire – The speeches and the first dance. Anthony, my dad, and Lee were fantastic speakers. The speeches were thoughtful, loving and funny. I really enjoyed listening to them on the day, and watching them back on the video.
Anthony – Waiting for Claire to arrive at the church. Waiting at the front of the church with my brother, those 5 minutes felt so long. I just wanted to see her arrive.
Were you nervous?
No! The morning of the wedding was so calm. We have wanted to get married for so long and we were engaged for four years. In that time we decided to buy a house and then save for the wedding. So we were desperate to officially become man and wife.
Did everything go according to plan?
Yes. Hair, make up, wedding party, suits and food, everything was just perfect. I was nervous about the room size and how the decorations would look, but it was gorgeous and exactly how we wanted it. When I saw the room, that’s when I relaxed and let the day take over. The ceremony was lovely and the reception was brilliant! The food, decor and our DJ were just what we wanted. We wanted a ‘party’ atmosphere and the DJ kept our guests up dancing all night!
Were there any funny/emotional moments that stand out for you?
My dad playing a clip of me singing “Heal the world!” as part of his speech, then being made to sing it again with my oldest family friend, Victoria, to my guests.
Hearing my grandad and Sarah speak in the church was emotional for us both.
Being called the best wife ever….saying Anthony could go and watch the end of the boxing!
How did you prepare for your first dance?
We didn’t! Maybe we should have. We are not dancers and we just decided to go with the flow on the day.
Tell us about the proposal!
It was in Antigua. It was on top of a cliff top. Anthony had booked a surprise three course meal on our second night there. Just before dessert, he got down on one knee and proposed. It was perfect, just the two of us. I was overwhelmed with emotion and so happy! We then went to the hotel bar, met lots of newly weds on their honeymoon and partied the night away! The next day we rang our parents and best friends to tell them the news. My dad and sister knew….they managed to keep it a secret.
Are there any other special little touches you planned that you’d like to tell us about?
My sister baked the brownie wedding favours, my Auntie Tracey and family friend Martine made my beautiful flowers and centre pieces and my cousin Rachel designed our invitations and seating plan. Anthony’s cousin Shevy designed the post box and menus.
Were there any surprises?
Anthony surprised me with a ‘minimoon’. As I signed the register he thanked me for the watch I gave him and told me ‘it will look great on holiday on Monday…’ I misheard and it took me a while to process it because I just couldn’t believe he had booked us five nights away! It was just what we needed after the wedding, but we had already booked our honeymoon in Asia for the summer, so it was really unexpected. He is always surprising me!
Do you want to give a special mention to anyone who really helped a lot in planning your day?
Thank you to all of our guests! They made our day. We were so happy that they enjoyed the day, and they helped make it memorable for us.
Thank you to our wonderful parents, our bridemaids, groomsmen, flower girls and page boy.
Thank you to Tracey, Lauren, Rachel and Shevy for all the little touches and time spent designing/making things for our day.
Thank you to Zoe and Aron at Avalanche, and all their staff.
Andy and Lara for letting us use their car as the bridal car and for the fizz!
Why was having a wedding video important to you?
It just captures the wedding in a totally different way that a picture can’t. You can feel the atmosphere of the day come flooding back. The wedding was perfect, but you find yourself in a little bubble and you miss so much. It was lovely to watch and see us becoming man and wife, hearing the messages from our friends and family and seeing all of our guests enjoying the day. It was brilliant the way Viva la Wedding used the songs we picked to play over the clips! The video was well thought out, and it is amazing. We have watched it so many times already!
What did you enjoy most about your finished wedding film and photographs?
I was so excited to open the parcel from Viva la Wedding! I love photographs, they are my favourite thing. We linked them on to the TV and sat up late going through them all. The first time we watched the video, we were overwhelmed. Both the photographs and video are priceless. It has captured key parts of our day, and we can look back on them forever. We’re so glad we chose Viva la Wedding as our Wedding photographer Manchester!
